1990 layton, cant open my awning

Hey all,

   Im trying to open, for the first time, my canopy on my 1990 layton trailer. I keep reading about loosening a knob, but I cant find any knobs on the inside of the arms.

  Anyone have any info on this, or where I can find an answer, or a place to get a manual?
