SIO2 are a deicent technology but they charge slower than LI they actualy dont have as much capacity as LI. I am not sure where PT is getting the prefured number for LI but everyone I know is running 10% to 100% with no degradation, you cant do that with SIO2 you get about 1/4 the cycles than you would with staying above 50% so if you want to make your batter last as long as possible the SIO2 is still a 50% capacity. From Berts trials I am not impressed with the recharge rate on them, the only thing I like is the high discharge which LIPO4 is higher and the fact you could ocaionaly run them down with out destroying them in an emergency. but at there price out here if you can DIY a lithium battery you can build them way cheeper than the SIO2.
I look at SIO2 as more an replacment for agm and la batteries or if you camping style is a lot of very cold weather where you would have to do a whole bunch of work to make LiPo4 work.
