50 AMP cord storage

Like many of you I have a heavy 50 Amp cord I have to detach, pack up and store underneath in my 5th wheel storage compartment. Presently I curl it up in a Tupperware container then lift it up in the storage area. As you know, it's heavy.

Any ideas out there for a less back breaking way of doing this?

  • If I ever have the misfortune of buying a 50 amp RV, I would invest in a 30 amp cord which would be adequate for 90% of my use and wouldn't be like wrestling a python in use. actually I already have the necessary cord/fittings/etc.

  • I like my method better. Since our rig stays plugged in at home I simply disconnect and put in the back of the truck. :)
  • I use the tupperware method but this is what I would like to install if I can find some room to place it. I looked at it in person at a MORryde booth and it's pretty light but well built.

  • Google "50 amp cord reel".

One of those may help, priced from a little to a lot.
