    BEST answer so far! :B

Had a buddy who used the same argument with his motorcycles - when it came time for an oil change he'd just buy a new bike instead. :W

I use a 3' piece of pvc, with a 90 and a cap at the end. Then I drilled several (5?) small holes in the cap. By rotating the pipe, the spray goes in different directions. I added a valve at the "clean" end of the pipe to shut off the water.

I did the same exact thing but drilled two 3/16" holes on the same side of the bottom fitting. The power from those little holes is amazing. I have my DW watch the level sensors and blast them clean.
Nothing cleans the tank like this method.

I like it! I'm SO stealing this idea to keep the footvalve open!

  • Extra green garden hose and tank wand. With good enough pressure, it will knock down even the stubborn uh,..."stuff".
  • I've got a variety of tank wands that all work well for the intended purpose and unlike trying to back flush the tank from the waste gate end a tank wand is the only method of effectively cleaning the toilet throat.

My FloJet Waste Macerator has a back flush feature but I can't remember the last time I used it - waste of time IMO so I've capped it off.
