add on steps for 5er

A while back there was a set of plans posted on here for a set of steps for a 5er that gave easier access to the door. They were made from wood & went together & came apart quite easily, I tried search came up empty. Thanks for any help

  • mpi mallard, just what I was looking for, thank you very much. Dw has severe r.a and need s more room to get in & out of 5'er. Thanks again-john
  • I simply bought two five tread pressure treated stair stringers and had them(home depot)cut a 2x12x16' PT into 5 36" pieces and using 3" deck screws put them together then I added a 2x4 on its side under the first tread and it sits perfectly on the top tread of my fiver's steps, shoot two 1-1/2" screws up through the holes in the fiver's top tread into the 2x4 and the stairs will sit nicely.Since I have two permanent sites in Ontario and Florida I built two and left them at each place however it takes minutes to assemble/disassemble and they stack nicel;y behind the hitch across the truck bed,i hope this helps.

I went to Harbour Freight and purchased a 12" aluminum step. Then removed the rivets from the plastic feet, removed 5" from the legs and re-attached the feet. These are a folding leg lightweight step and the total cost was less than $10.00 with the 20% off coupon. I find I use it often when my standard steps on my 5th wheel are to high.

I did the exact same thing plus, added low cut carpet to the top of ours and rivet it down...work great and didn't spend $70 for the one a CW with the folding legs.
