I just replaced the entire cabinet. As usual, the original was too deep (16" or so, don't remember) but not tall enough to install the 2nd shelve without making the space above the shelve too small. Because of being too deep and too high, the lower corners of the doors were hitting my forehead all the time.
I ordered a new cabinet of standard 12" depth, and few inches taller than original. With shelve inside. While at it, the carpenter also shortened the adjacent microwave cabinet, to make it look more esthetic - this one also was abnormally deep.
