Addind outside lighting to my RVs

Here in Virginia you can add almost any style of lights you may want to have on the sides of the trailer. However if you add additional lights to the front or rear areas they have to comply with DOT regulations and the such... This includes when the light may come on. i.e. a rear lower light may not be able to comoe on with a switch from inside the the truc or trailer. Has to only come on when the truck goes into reverse et... They also have to have DOT Approved lens covers etc...

My 5th wheel has two scare lights mounted on the rear area up near the roof on both sides of the trailer... Even this got a close look see by the State inspection folks but they left them in place and I passed the inspection.

The general idea I guess is nothing can come on accidentally going down the Road Ways that may blind other road traffic when on the road ways...

We early drivers of OFF ROAD JEEPS always had a big fight with the State Inspection folks for using OFF-ROAD lights... Now I see a long LED light strip mounted in the front of trucks that back in the day would not have been legal in some states..

I bringing all of this up just for you to be aware of somethings associated with adding lights to the RV units... Since they are on the roadways DOT may have different ideas if they are legal in theirs eyes or not...

I would always check in with them before purchasing something that might not pass the DOT STATE Inspections...

Just saying haha... I have had to remove lights to pass State Inspections from back in the day after I spent a few bucks buying and mounting them etc
