Adding Washer & Dryer

Just wondering if anyone has added a washer & dryer. This would be in a 5th wheel. Need to know where the best place would be.

Thanks!

  • I purchased a 5er with a stacking washer & dryer. It is fine when we are in a park with full hookups (and laundry facilities).

Unfortunately, when we have limited hookups, it uses so much water that we cannot use it.

If it were up to me I would take it out and use the space for storage.

  • Get three good paint buckets with lids, strap them to rear bumper.
First bucket has water with some laundry detergent, second and third buckets have clean water.
Pace cloths in first bucket and drive to destination.
At first stop, remove cloths from first bucket and place in third bucket.
At second stop, remove cloths from second bucket and place in third bucket.
At last stop, "campground" remove cloths from third bucket and ring out and then hang cloths on rear ladder rungs to dry.

Other than the buckets you have most of what you need to do laundry, if your shower is deep enough, you already have everything needed, you just have to change the water and you can hang the clothes on the bar above.

  • We added one when we purchased our fifthwheel. It had a closet for one but only had 120AC receptacle, plumbing and venting had to be installed.
  • You also need AC power which would be part of the prep. Can't you just look and see if the connections are in some cabinet?
  • Dear Mom,

What 5th wheel year, make and model do you have? Not all trailers are created equal nor prepped for a w/d. IF prepped, h/c water in and gray connections are there and you would need to put in the dryer vent. If not prepped, is there a place in the design for you to add one. Again, not all are created equal.
  • Best to contact trailer builder with vin#. They can tell you if prepped for W/D.

  • Most newer 5th wheels of a somewhat large size have a "designated" space for W/D installation. May or may not already have prep (water and drain) installed. If it does not have a closet already sized for the W/D I reall don't know where you would put one. Shorter trailers may well not have the space available.
