This is the King Controls "meter" . For $30 it's pretty stupid. There is no way to identify what it's even looking at, and I would venture to say that as "White Space" devices become more and more common in the UHF band, people are going to be pointing at things that are not TV transmitters at all. If you want something that WORKS, spend the money for the Winegard SensarPro. It scans the band, finds the strongest channels, tells you what they are, and gives you a very accurate pointing display with tone if needed. And it has a built in 1x2 adjustable amplifier.
Larry: Yes, that's the one I was referring to. That's an amazing little box for the price. We bought a case of them to do coverage testing of several new DTV transmitters we installed in Puerto Rico, and found that they provided the same results as the $50k analyzers for what we needed to do. After returning the underwhelming Jack antenna, I used that credit for the SensarPro, and it works so well I leave the DigiAir at home now.
