Not following you completely. The inverter turns 12 volts into 120 v AC. You can install a transfer switch that would let the inverter send power to certain plugs in the RV. When you plug into shore power the transfer switch let's shore power go to those plugs.
If you install an inverter to your battery and then use your oem shore power cord your CONverter will be sending power to the batteries as the inverter is pulling off of the batteries.
