Awning Arm Locking Pin

The awning extension is held out with a small retractable nub. As it wears or breaks it could cause a problem. I bought a couple of locking pins and after raising the awning into position I insert the locking pin to the next lower hole on the awning extension. Should the nub fail, the locking pin would prevent the awning from coming down unexpectantly, and could be a temporary fix until correctly repaired.
When not in use, they are inserted and locked on the extension arm in a lower hole.

  • We had to strat doing something like that about three years ago. The spring on one of the awning post handles became so weak that the pin would not pop out far enough into the post hole. That side actually did collapse one trip. We bought a pair of carabiner clips and used them to support the awning on both sides.
