It's a pipe with wheels on the ends. The OP sounds like someone that is more than capable of dealing with something as elementary as a trailer axle.
x2. Ironically the OP may make it better than the factory built. We've all seen the crappy stuff that Lippert puts out sometimes. Probably not Lipperts fault, more the MFG requesting the bare minimum.
