Basic TV set-up please

Hello, I have an older Sportsmen TC(1997). It had an Antenna Tec
roof antenna. I replaced it with a new Wanguard Sensar that fit the mast just like the one that was on there. Now, I took the booster plate in the wall out and there are is no coax cables run to the wall plate booster. Why did they do that?
So,here is how I proceeded from there. I put the new booster plate that came with the new Sensar antenna in the wall, I ran coax from the new roof antenna to the booster, from the booster to the tv. I get no signal reception, just one station really fuzzy. I should get quite a few stations out of Madison(60 miles away). The tv is an LED tv, some off brand, "Fiore", maybe ten years old. The guy I got the camper from only watched DVD's on it in the camper. Now I know why, because there was no cables run from the wall plate from the factory. Do I have to put a digital box between the antenna and the tv? I should get plenty of channels from where the camper is sitting. Any suggestions?

Old age may have creeped up on you haha...

The TV signals transmitted today are digital high def TV signals and require the newer type HDTV LCDs to pick them up...

Also the the digtal TV signals are now only on UHF channels and no longer can you pick up any of the older VHF channels...

Your antenna should look like this one on your trailer for best results... The smaller added dipoles you see in this photo is what is working for you now... This antenna has a built-in AMPLIFIER and needs 12VDC injected into the RG cable coming from the anetnna panel to work.

The ANTENNA PANEL should be wired like this image shows...

This should fix you right up... We watch Washington DC HDTV in one direction and Richmond DC HDTV signals in the other direction with our setup. These are a good 50-60 miles away from us...

The digital HDTV signals have to scanned into your HDTV setup prior to be able to view them... Point the antenna in right direction then go to Digital TV setup menu on your HDTV and select ANTENNA then scan for the HDTV digital TV signals...

Even when you are the local camp grounds you have to go to the setup menu and select CABLE then scan in the channels before you can see them.

I suspect your older antenna is not an amplified TV antenna and your older TV may not be a HDTV type...

  • I found the operating instructions for the tv, it is a
Viore 32" HD LCD tv , cannot find a date of manufacture anywhere
tv system ATSC digital, NTSC Analog
    video signal system NTSC/PAL/SECAM
I set the signal to AIR
I don't know if it is set to digital signal?
I don't have the remote so I have to do everything on-screen(what a pain)
I have the cover on the camper yet, I will have to take it off and set the tv up again, I took it off last fall.
  • What was the purpose of the digital boxes that everyone needed
when they changed the over air broadcasts to digital. Wasn't that the fix
for analog sets that were still out there being used?
  • Can you post make and model?
Have you gone into the menu and set the TV for antenna or over the air?
    Is it set for digital?

If this TV is really 10 yrs old I doubt it would be LED ... probably LCD and probably has just an NTSC analogue tuner in it, in which case it wouldn't be able to receive digital signals which require an ATSC digital tuner which televisions sold these days have. If so, time to invest in a new set. ;)
  • The wall plate is not the booster. It is a power supply that induces 12 volts DC onto the coaxial cable. The booster is in the head.
Do you have 12 volts DC connected to the power supply? Is the polarity correct?
Did you turn on the power supply? Does the LED light up?
