My soundbar sits entirely in front of the cabinets and extends into the room by its thickness (a couple of inches). It doesn't take away any usable space because the bottom of the bar is less than 1" below the bottom of the cabinets (my bar is about as tall as it is thick). So someone walking into the coach doesn't have a clearance issue. My bar was designed to "hang" on two screws and these I was able to attach through the cloth that forms the bottom of the cabinet and which has a small turned up edge. So if I ever removed the bar all I would have would be two small screw holes through the cloth.
Here's a picture:
My TV is only a 26" because TV's 3 years ago had much thicker "frames" then they do now. I'd definitely use a 32" or larger with today's nearly frameless designs. You can see the left edge of the soundbar to the right of the TV.
I didn't have a problem putting the subwoofer into the old TV cabinet because I still have access to the overhead cabinets which have the Roku, the DVR, the Blu-ray and the Winegard control. The old TV cabinet houses the subwoofer/control system and the DirecTV AM21 tuner but that's all.
