FWIW, when I install outdoor decking, it is usually a carpenter's pencil gap (5/16"?). Up here, 5/4 minimum for deck lumber unless using Trex. I have built decks with 3/4" nominal Cedar and those are still good, AFAIK.
I have seen some yards with incredibly bad PT lumber. Since AC2 came out, not so much anymore.
My local Home Depot just had a batch of really bad Cedar they had to sort through. Good for me as I can shop the clearance bin for small projects.
