Can a car stereo be mounted at an angle?

I replaced the OEM unit with a JVC head unit that works quite well except that it's unreadable. It's mounted very high, almost 6 feet up. Turns out the display is intended to be read from a higher perspective and is almost invisible from any lower angle.

I think I could angle it facing down 30 degrees or so without making the install too ugly. Is there a problem with this? If it's only with the CD player, I don't care. We almost never use those ancient devices anymore. :)
  • I have mounted them straight up and down even with a CD and the CD still plays. If you aren't worried about the CD, the radio can be mounted in any position.
  • If you use computer files for music, you can buy a head with a usb input that accepts a thumb drive - cheaper and no moving parts. I would imagine it would work at any angle or orientation.

  • Typically car stereos can be mounted at angles but you need to check your manufacturers installation documents. In there they WILL specify the max angles which a stereo can be mounted (different manufacturers and models will have different specifications so I can not say for sure what the max of your unit is).
  • I don't see any problems other than possibly with the CD and then only if you hit a hard bump while moving.

  • don,t see why not, look into fishfinder mounts ,they got some that would make a good hanger called RAM MOUNTS on ebay.
