Can I replace 12v light switches with 110v house switches?

I am sure this has been asked, but I have found little to no info on the internet. Can I replace 12v light switches with 110v house switches? 1. To save money 2. I like the look of a clean, white...

Yes, for lighting. With AC power, the arc naturally self-extinguishes during the zero crossing that happens 120 times a second; that's missing with DC.

An inductive load is worse in either case, of course.
