When we bought our fiver the electronics had been stripped, so I went to a flat screen right away. I searched and searched for brackets that would work in the old analog TV space. Never had any luck.
Finally I took the old slide-out tray and built a mount on that. Used a square piece of wood drilled to the 4 TV mount points, bolted that to a triangular piece of 2 x 12 that is bolted to the TV tray. Also put two pieces of 2 x 2 along the base to stabilize the 2 x 12 triangle.
Stained the whole thing to match. Looks pretty good, maintains the lock-in, pull-out and turn features of the old tray, and has stood up fine for 6 years plus.
I know what you mean about not finding the right bracket. Yes there are tons of brackets but not the size I want to use.I want a bracket that will cover and then some on the hole left by the old analog TV and then I will have to find some kind of filler for probably the bottom of the new flstscreen as there is a gap of about 4 inches because the 40 inch flatcreen is not tall or high enough. I think I can find something at Lowes or Home Depot to fill in this gap. I may be out of luck here but I have 3 months here in Yuma to find something or continue using my analog TV with the digital box when I am not in a cable area. I am not into installing a satellite system.
Thanks for the responses.
