Chevy battery isolater
Needed heavy wiring to charge my battery's in the truck camper and TT .
Standard wiring via the 7 way plug lets the truck starter battery get discharged.
Turned out to be more expensive than I liked but once done....
Mounted this continuous duty solenoid/relay on the fender well.
Get one with a 4 wire hookup if your fender well is plastic like mine so you can run a seperate ground wire for the coil.

Got mine at Autozone $25.00
Goto the fuse box and use a meter or test light to find a fuse that gets power only with the key on.
I used the running lights.

This fuse tap ($6.00,Autozone ) has independent fuses so if one blows the othe circuit still works.
Run the wire from it to the other side of the relay's coil.
The big leads on the relay are connected one to the truck( I ran to the alternator output but the battery post is fine) and the other to the 7 way plug.
I used a set of jumper cables 8 gauge wire from Mennards $10.00 on sale.
Cut off the clamps and strip back the insulation and hook both together. Our local store had connectors one could buy or one could twist them together and put washers on either side for a good clamp.
I ran my doubled cables back along the frame inside flexible 1inch electric conduit ($7.00 for 10 foot,Mennards ) for protection from road hazards even though most of it was run inside the frame.
Save some to run a good ground from battery to frame.
PS don't forget to leave a tag on the wire you remove from the 7 way plug . I used a "sharpie" on a strip of paper and double taped it with scotch tape and tucked it back into the harness.
Another way would be to remove the fuse for that wire but someone might replace that . I did both.
PPS the job took at least a half day. A lot of time was spent in decision making-where to mount the relay, where to hook on the truck battery, which circuit to power the relay coil, where and how to run the charge cable to the back, all have to be decided. Don't start if you don't have all day and another vehicle to get the small stuff you forgot - like screws to mount the solenoid.
Good Luck, Mike
