On the one hand, that's not how they are installed now. On the other hand, that is exactly how they were installed for years, and Miles's you have the (somewhat problematic) clamp style roof vent, the new holes are adding 4 to each vent, which already has a couple of dozen screws.
Bottom line, while I would be mad, it's not the end of the world, and sealed with Dicor will not be a long term issue.
