I did some Oxygenics testing, with city water connected. The beauty of the Oxy head is that it gives a respectable shower (other than maybe rinsing long hair) at a greatly reduced flow setting. It practically renders navy showers obsolete.
I use it at the lowest spray flow, an amount just above the trickle that occurs on the lowest setting. At this setting, it flows approx. 1/2 gallon per minute, yet does a good job.
The off position trickle flows 0.2 gpm. The full flow is a bit over 1 gpm.
You can do the algebra on your own navy style and see if it totals less than me just using the low flow continuously at 0.45 gpm. It's close enough that I haven't bothered to figure it.
But yes, if you are just going to run it full blast, then I don't see the reason for installing it.
