That is what I did but mounted it on the faucet insted of the shower head,thus eliminating the heft on the shower head.

It works better there and it is easy to use with soapy hands,not like the twist one that came with the Shower Head.
Where did you purchase that valve? I have looked for one like that at Home Depot, and Lowes with no luck.
I've seen em' at both places. Mine came from HD
