Anything is more comfortable than the bench seats. In my (-) shaped dinette (2 benches facing one another, not U) I removed one bench when running the propane line for catalytic heater, and the room looked so "roomier" without it that I threw the bench away for good. Put a comfy chair instead and never regretted. The chair is wedged upside down between the table and the remaining bench, for travel.
