The brass ring is soft & wears rapidly causing sharp edges on it that will fray the rope. After fewer than 100 pulls on the starter, mine broke. I have since fixed it, but modified the point of exit so it won't happen again. If anyone wants info on this mod, let me know.
I see this is an older post but was hoping we mite still find an answer.We are having the same issue,and would like to know how you solved it.TY
