Fireplace removal and repurposing space

Will you miss the heat it provides?

I had one in our previous MH. We got more use out of it than any other appliance bar none. RVs don't hold the heat so when the sun goes down and the temps go down, we turned on the fireplace to keep it comfortable. Liked the ambiance too.

If you want to remove it, there's nothing to it. Take out the screws on the sides and pull it out. You'll find a cord plugged into an outlet behind it. Plug the cord and pick up the fireplace. At least that's how it was on my unit.

We use the heck out of ours. You might try it before you rip it out.
Also, the compartment for ours was only about 10" deep (most fireplaces aren't any deeper than that). If you haven't already removed it anc checked, it may not be all that big back there.

We use ours spring and fall when we have hookups sure saves on the propane !!! Just a fancy electric heater.

The depth might be the deciding factor. We have dual heat pumps, but admit the fireplace might be nice if we do any cold weather camping

We bought our Cougar without the fireplace. I added 3 shelves in the cabinet and turned it into a canned food pantry. It works great and really holds a large number of cans.

I never realized how much we use our fireplace until we had one. Our fireplace is pretty shallow as in maybe 8 inches without much space behind it. So for us it wouldn't be worth removing it even if we wanted to.

We use our fireplace almost daily when wintering in Florida. To remove the morning chill, and during cold spells. Saves on propane. We have pulled ours out to change the light bulbs, so removing it is easy. Remove the trim, unscrew all the screws, unplug and it comes right out. The space isn’t that wide, however. I would think repurposing it would be fairly simple.

We also winter in Florida in out mh. We don't have room for an electric fireplace, so I put a toe-kick heater in. Wired to the same circuit as the AC. It has it's own t-stat.
Works a lot better than a portable, always in the way, heater. And works a LOT better.

If this is what you think you want to do go ahead and do it before you use the fireplace. If not you never will. We use ours all the time winter camping. I installed it myself and have installed three others for friends after they spent time in my camper.
