We installed Armstrong premium grade snap edge laminate planks throughout. Consumer Report rated it as having the best scratch/abrasion resistance. We put down a couple of washable throw rugs and a runner. After 6 years of full timing use with us,two dogs and one cat it still looked great. Very easy and fast to clean.
