We have ordered interlocking "rubber" floor squares like you would see in a gym or in a daycare. The reason is two fold. One, shoes are of the devil and once it warms up they are not on our feet until winter. Two, due to the desert and beach sand considerations I want to be able to remove the floor during clean up.
You will be able to remove it, alright. I'm afraid you will "have" to remove it though. Sand will get under and in between those squares. Sometimes what looks like sand is clay, same color, very fine dust-like when dry and clings to everything when wet. I would go for continuous vinyl sheet. The underlying floor is a particle board, decent heat insulation once it warms up over 55-60.
