Fridge Fan

Here is what I did with mine. It is a computer fan and it runs anytime the fridge is turned on. It has been in there since 2004 and still is working great.


This is what I have mounted outside in the fridge compartment. It is thermostatically controlled and operates when the temp gets above a certain point in the compartment.
It blows air up towards the roof from the burner assembly at the bottom.


Together these two fans have kept our refrigerator working great for almost 10 years in the hottest weather. We also try to park so the fridge side of the trailer is in the shade when possible.

Sorry I misunderstand, I was telling what I did on the outside. On our old camper we had a small freestanding 2 D battery fan I bought from Camper World, it helped some but not as much as the external fans. To keep from packing things to tight in the frig for the air to circulate I took several plastic bottles and cut the top and bottom out leaving a sleeve about 4-5" tall. I put one on each shelf to make sure the air could move around.

Doesn't much matter....the idea is to circulate the air inside the food section

I was just doing some reading about fans outside the unit in the working area and they were talking about the type of fans people use out there. if you have a ball bearing fan you can mount it horizontally and if you buy a sleeve bearing fan only mount it vertical. I bought a four pack so I'm not going to worry too much about how I mount mine in the space out side. the fans are computer cooling fans.

small solar panel on the roof of the fridge vent, 1-5watts without a switch and it should power a computer fan no problem. no need to watch amps then and it will gennerally work when it is hottest and shut off at night.

Inside just get one of those little blue ones that run on Type D batteries.
Check your exterior ventilation to see if it can be closed up so it will work better.

We bought one on ebay last spring, but it is starting to make noise ... probably need to replace it

Ok op.. are these the fins inside or outside the fridge?

I put in a $10 computer case fan with Blue LEDS in the outside space moving air up and through the cooling fins at the roof line.
Inside the refer, I installed a 3" computer case fan. Hung it off the bottom of the top shelf.

Tapped off of the refer 12 volt power block and installed a switch in the door frame area of the refer to control both fans.

I truly believe it helps with the ventilation of the refer over the cooling fins at the roof line and with the interior temp. as well.

The Blue LEDS add a custom touch that alot of people scratch their head and wonder what that light is.

When my bath fan blew apart, I replaced it with a 10" computer case fan with Blue LEDS. It lights up the bathroom just enough at nite to keep from having to use the regular light and it keeps the air flowing and it looks cool from the outside as it makes the vent cover glow BLUE. It is way quiter than the original fan.
