Fridge fans revisited --- pics for the person who asked

The thread was closed before I could post these. IMO this info is of potential value to the forum so I wanted to contribute. I recently acquired a fridge-fox fan from smart rv products and the instructions show great pictures as to how to wire it up. I wanted to share for those who may have questions on how this best be done. The instructions says on 2 door dometic fridges it is best to wire to the 12v light bulb constant. For other wiring options, here are pics of the instructions.

  • I think I did it easier, cheaper & faster.
I went to the local PC shop and purchased a 12 volt PC fan for $4.00.
Took it home and made a narrow, flat strap metal holding bracket with two holes to match the fan.
With two small bolts, I mounted the fan flat (Blows top to bottom) using the shelf near the light.
I ran the wires to the light and wired to the positive side - so the fan runs when the fridge is on - not just if the light is on.
Once I was home with the fan, total install less than an hour.
    Easy-Peasy!!
  • Thanks for the additional info, luckily I was able to simply splice into lamp wire. Our Dometic had always performed well but we camped with 4-5 kids on every trip and the constant door opening led me to these rv fridge fans. D battery powered unit simply wasn't up to the task.

Picked one up online about 7 years ago for maybe $12 shipped and it is still working fine. Really reduces recovery time as these pair of fans do an impressive job moving cooled air. Draw is minimal so no problem when camping without shorepower.
