has anyone attempted to make their own sofa?

I am thinking about doing it.. I don't need the jack knife bed. My water tank and pump is under it. Using 2x2 ... I would re-frame making the base a little deeper and a slightly angled back rest. Add plywood.. the base would have hinges to access the water tank area. My only issue is finding cushions to fit..............

    IMO you can make it a bit more comfortable by having the seat dip a couple inches lower in back than in front, in addition to the angled back rest. I can't see any reason why not; the gaucho I had in my KZ TT was just a simple boxed area to sit on, and I always wished they had angled it like that. You might consider buying a futon cushion, if it matches the size you want to build.
