That option is on the table too but was staying open to the option of dying the existing carpet and not having to remove all the furniture. - Corkey05ExplorerThe synthetic fibers of modern carpets are non-porous. In other words if you try to dye it the color will coat the fibers, not penetrate them. Coatings are temporary at best. Modern carpet fibers are poor candidates for color change.
Yes, some fibers like wool can be dyed, but I doubt you'll find anything in an RV of that caliber. - BumpyroadExploreryou are correct, a crazy project. sort of similar to my roomie in college using shoe dye to color his ROTC socks black when they switched from brown. worked on his socks, and also on his feet.:B
bumpy - Mortimer_BrewstExplorer IIProfdant139 had a great line a while back. "Old carpets never die. They just get more rugged."
Other than expense there is no downside in going with new carpet. It's a question of a guaranteed good result vs. getting a result of some sort. Dependent factors would include original color, new color (can't go dark to light), and carpet material. - Loving_God_s_CoExplorerMy research and your advice is telling me that I need to die to the dye option lol! Thank you for all your input! Now to my next post! ;)

Bumpy, you were in the "brown" Army? Heck the Army switched from brown to green...in the middle 1950s! - BumpyroadExplorer

yep, I'm an old geezer. Now that I rethink that situation, we were given black shoe dye to change our brown shoes to black. My roomie also used it to change his socks for some reason. :)
bumpy - LwiddisExplorer IIBumpy, did you return any left over black dye to the supply sergeant? The UCMJ is quite strict about this.
