Carpet on ceilings.....

good question. I live in BC so am not having the problem yet. I imagine you live in a hotter place?

Yeah it's hot here in NW Oregon for a few weeks. I had to throw out a rug we paid 750 for because after 21 years near the patio door it was turning into very fine powder. I think it better to get natural fibers, perhaps your body can handle those.

Is there a good way to glue a nice fabric headliner to the carpet that's in there? Seems tough to do at any rate... what type glue I wonder.

Any suggestions are thankfully accepted. :)

I'm fairly sure they spray on a water base contact cement to hold the carpet.

At any rate I think I could do a new headliner going over it. It would be nice if it had some insulated backing if anyone knows about something.

Carpet on the ceiling? I would rip it down and paint the surface.

My Born Free has a carpet like fabric glued to the ceiling. About the only redeeming value is Velcro sticks to it.

Just be careful here. This is not really carpet like you have on the floor of your house with a backing and fibres woven into it. Tis is a spray on fibre bonded to the outer side of a foam panel.. It is not 'fabric glued to the roof', nor 'removing popcorn ceiling' nor can you 'rip it down', nor is contact cement used. 'Carpet' is a misnomer to describe this finish.

Leave the carpet as insulation and put another layer over it is the direction i would go.

If it can't be removed, I would vacuum it to remove the loose stuff; then roll on a coating of water-based finish. I have always been a fan of Minwax Polycrylic - dries in minutes/very low odor. Goes on white, dries clear. At least it would anchor the fibers?

How interesting is that! I will try this on an extra piece the factory gave me years ago when I visited the factory.

I still think, going over it with an expensive headliner is going to be best.
