2003 Bigfoot truck camper ceiling carpet degrading. What now?

Question

In recent years my BIGFOOT 2500 ceiling carpet has started to “shed” I vacuumed to remedy. After a winter on storage I was shocked to find the ceiling carpet has degraded to such an extent that the entire camper interior is covered in a fine baby powder type dust. It’s horrendous. Can’t be healthy to breathe this dust. Vacuuming only causes more dust to fall.
Anyone hear of this sort of situation? Any recommendations on how to alleviate this issue? Not going to have the material professionally removed etc… need to perhaps cover the material to stop the shedding and make it safe. Some have suggested using an acrylic paint or? I no longer use this unit to travel. It permanently installed as a “bunkhouse” on my property. Please advise 🙏🏼

The right thing to do would be to remove it and re-cover. You already said you weren't doing that. So anything else like painting, is a band aid, won't offer any sound or temperature insulation, and IMO probably look like you painted a berber carpet.&nbsp;

thats one reason I won't buy a rv with a carpted ceiling.&nbsp; the proper way to deal with it is to remove it and then refinish the ceiling weather you put new carper up or spend a bit more time and finish it properly.&nbsp; carpet lets them not spend any time making sure the cealing looks good, they just leave the fiberglass/wood/whatever rough and cover it.&nbsp;&nbsp;
