1/4" flat steel only at the receiver is not enough to support that weight behind the TT. It's not the weight it's the bounce back there that will tin-can that steel and cause it to fail.
You need to lose the bumper and extend the frame to provide enough support.
Those frame extensions are 1/4" by 2 1/2" angle for rigidity.
We had our Honda 2000 attached to the TT like that and the vibration was annoying. If you are going to travel with them in the truck bed I would just run them there. I travel with the 2000 in that box but put it on the ground now to run it.
