Horizontal Propane Tanks

Are horizontal propane tanks used on forklifts of any value? I looked a little online and it seems like the horizontal tanks are expensive to replace. I have 4 tanks that were left over from a construction job and not sure if they could be used for an RV application or not. They're in excellent shape and won't need initial inspection for another 7 years (09 manufacture date stamped). Could anyone give me info if these are worth anything or not????

Thanks!!
  • Forklift tanks need to have the relief valve changed every 12 years, so they are due in 5 years, Even so they have value find a local propane dealer and sell them.

Converting them to RV use might not be economically feasible.

I would list them on Craig's List

  • They actually fit a variety of Industrial equipment so there should be lots of interest.
As a previous poster suggested ,check with one of the larger Propane suppliers as they would be able to suggest a user in your area that may want to buy a spare or two.
  • Contact a propane distributor for specific information. You may not be able to use them on an RV because of their ratings. As I remember, they must be steel and certified for mounting on a vehicle frame. Even then, a good propane store can use the tanks, and advertising them may locate an end user.
  • Lots of truck camper models use horizontal tanks.....

Might have Moderator move this to TC Section.
