I have a F150 and a TT. I had an ignition key, a remote fob, entry door key, storage lock key, receiver lock key and hitch lock key. I got a three button key off ebay, had it cut a lock smith, and since I already had 2 programed keys I was able to program it myself, no more fob. Then I got the Bolt lock locks that use the ignition key, at least one less key. Then I did the entry lock and storage lock keyed alike mod. One less key.

One less key.While on the surface reducing the amount of "keys" looks all fine and dandy BUT in doing so you ARE increasing your RISK..All it takes is losing one of the keys and poof ALL the items secured by that key WILL be at risk of a thief..Since you most likely have more than one key on your keyring even a better chance someone could now have access to EVERYTHING you own..Kind of like the use ONE password for all your accounts and use something like 123abc.. Doing so will most likely result in getting your accounts hacked..Multiple keys are a bit like multiple passwords, spreads out and LOWERS the risk of unwanted folks gaining access..

If they get the ring with 8 keys or 4 keys, they've still gots all the keys, its just a smaller keyring in my pocket. And honestly locks keep honest people honest.

Between remote controls for everything to all the keys for every thing and all the passwords for every thing, if there is a way to simplify all o them, I'm for it!Let's see, on my camper key ring, I have:1. There will probably be the day when all locks are personally programmed to the user's individual code. I can't wait. I have multiple keys, also, and wish there was one that fit all. For residential door locks, there have been self-learning locks for a few years now. That brings the key inventory down a bit.

Normal daily keyring: 4 vehicle keys (fuel keys are kept inside each vehicle), 1 fob, 2 house keys (house & garage), 1 padlock (gate).

As for camping, I have them split up depending on the season and therefore which toys are coming with me; they hang over the door inside the RV for easy access.

Normal RV keyring has ignition/door, camper door & deadbolt, compartment key (also accesses fuel door, water door, genset door), and hitch receiver lock.

Summer: Compartment key, cable lock (for jet skis), add'l padlock, JS trailer tongue.

Winter: Compartment key, cable lock (this time used for ATVs), add'l padlock, enclosed trailer keys (tongue, door, backdoor padlocks).

Of course, I have a spare ignition/door key hidden on the RV in case I lock myself out, and there is a full set of spares (normal/summer/winter) inside in case any of the individual keyrings are lost.

If they are honest then no locks needed.

I hate carrying keys.
I have 1 key for truck....fob and key

GF carries all the other keys :B

Or, if you had to change the ignition switch, cut one side with the ignition and one for the door.

I loved the years before the smart keys. We had two Ford products with the double side keys. Just cut one side for each vehicle. Worked great and the trick worked for several vehicle changes till we bought one with a chipped key. Key cutter looked at me funny when I request the keys made.

Pretty simple really..

I SPLIT up my keys according to what I am doing..

All the HOME/WORK related keys are on a separate key ring from my camping keys (IE camper doors, baggage doors, lock for hitch and tongue mounted tool box).

When camping the camping keys are combined with the SINGLE VEHICLE key.

When not camping the HOME/WORK keys are combined with the VEHICLE KEYS..

This way I don't carry every single key with me at all times..

Lose one set and not ALL is lost..

As far as locks goes, sure door locks are for reducing the causal thieves, they won't stop the determined thieves..

BUT, you have to admit that locking things up is far better than leaving the doors wide open with a big neon sign that states "over here, I am open for you to clean me out"..

I would love to have one key for everything on my camping rigs. I would also love for it to be easy to change the keys and locks on everything easily in case I lost the key. Right now I would like to actually have two keys one for the truck and one for everything else.

There will probably be the day when all locks are personally programmed to the user's individual code. I can't wait. I have multiple keys, also, and wish there was one that fit all.

For residential door locks, there have been self-learning locks for a few years now. That brings the key inventory down a bit.
