I just recieved my LED's from China, that was fast and CHEAP!!! (10 for $50)
Super easy install and they look great.
One thing though, on the bayonet style bulbs for my kitchen pendent light, the Chinese ones have two contact points, where as my stock bulb contact point is dead center.
The contacts do not hit the socket contact point and therefore need to be modified or returned to CHINA! ha ha...
For you electricians out there, can I add solder to these two contact points to create a center contact for the socket? I realize I would have to make certain that it would have to be the same hight as the other two contact points at the bottom so it will fit. But not 100% if this will work.
Please let me know!
You have two wires going to the old light socket, and the socket is not needed anymore, so get rid of it, use the two wires that are past the switch, and hook that up directly to the LED light panel, with tiny grey or blue wire nuts, or other connectors.
Because LED's fail due to heat, I would want as much air as possible to take away heat from the bulbs on the top of the light panel, so no double sided tape for my LED conversion, perhaps 400F rated silicon on each corner, and leave a lot of air all around the panel to help disipate heat.
I have some lights in my RV that use two points and the power is going in one point and out the other. The single point that is common in your RV is going in the center and out the base to the fixture that is grounded.
