OK, found it. There are three screws that go through the valence into the slide roof. I found one, and DW found the second by cutting the pleather with a utility knife where she guessed it would be (it was!) The valence still wouldn't come down so I did my best Bruce Banner turning green and yanked the valence off. There was a third screw about an inch away from the first one that was visible.
The problem was that the OEM screwed the screws beyond flush and it was impossible to tell where they were. The pleather completely covered the head.
We're going to recover the valence with fabric and screw it back in place. It will last FOREVER (or at least until I'm through RVing).
