At home, I found the rod a bit weak, and found that I could stuff a 3/4" dowel rod into the steel rod, and it made it really stiff. However it will not work with a already bent rod.
Now I have some closet organizers, and they tend to have enough strength to do the job. Lowes or Home Depot.
