- RoyBExplorer IINice job.... I too am looking at enhancing my storage space in my OFF-ROAD POPUP. Storage space in the POPUPs sure is a premium amenity.
My OFF-ROAD POPUP has the front deck with removal sides that make up a ramp originally designed to haul an ATV. We have always used this space for bringing along more supplies and other campsite related items. I have even carried a small room fridge here a couple of times. Freezer space is another amenity that I don't have much of.
My plans are to remove the side rails and install a large full width storage compartment up next to the trailer wall. This would have two small doors on both ends and another passage door into the storage compartment from the inside of the trailer. My trailer hallway ends on the inside of this wall.
The remaining space on the front deck I might want to install some drawer type bins like being used on the AUSSIE OFF-Road trailer shown below.
Having the front deck deck sure has been a BIG blessing for us for carrying all of the necessary camping support items and supplies. Between this front deck and my truck bed we can bring along some serious camping support items and supplies on the trips.
Presently I just cover the front deck with a tarp when in transport mode and when at the site the front pull-out tent bed covers the whole front deck keying everything high and dry.

As you can see it is very hard to pull out things
stored in the front deck with the tent bed extended
and side rails installed. I have room in front of my
deck for four batteries across the trailer tongue and
two propane tanks.

They actually have a full kitchen setup on a pull-out slide which I
would not be doing and just using the pull-out drawers for supplies.
Always something else to play with trying to improve on things haha...
Roy Ken - hersheyExplorerCan't argue with your choice. It looks like it was installed at the factory. Only we know that it was installed by you.....better than the factory. :)
- pare_johnExplorerThat is a great question. The piece that I had cut out was very thin vinyl where as the door I bought was metal. I preferred using the metal as it is more solid. Either way would work it just came down to preference.
- hersheyExplorerVery professional.
I'm not as skilled a carpenter or fabricator but I have to ask? Why not use the piece of metal that you removed from the trailer side to replace the tin panel in the door? - pare_johnExplorerThank you!
- fickmanExplorerGood work! Looks great!
