Installed ceiling fan

I installed a 12V ceiling fan into the bedroom. My bedroom is wired for an air conditioning unit, but I did not want this because of the noise those things are making. I get OK cool air through the ceiling ducts, and just wanted some extra air movement.
I decided to install the fan in the center over the bed, by utilizing the metal support of the opening there. I modified a fan support outlet that is used for stick houses and painted this thing white. I made cutouts in the skylight surround to install the fan box. I ran the wires through the ceiling to the 12 V lights, and from there to a surface mounted on/off switch.
This fan provides some well appreciated extra comfort, it is very quiet and can run the entire night. This way I have some "fresh" air even if the generator is not running. I installed the fan in such a manner that it still allows me to crank the hatch open.

Why wouldn't you just install a fantastic fan?

I have a Fantastic Fan in the living/kitchen area and in the bathroom.

They move a lot of air either out or into the area, but do nothing for gentle air movement in the area. And they are pretty noisy, too!

    This fan is absolutely quiet!
  • A fantastic fan would require you to open the vent to get any air circulation. Worthless if you want to run A/C and have the fan running. Great idea Hudsoner. I bet it really feels good.
