Insulating a/c

I remember a post about insulating the a/c on the roof. I can't find it in the archives. Does anybody remember if they are insulating the unit or the shroud over the unit?

  • Thanks that was the one. So he put the insulation inside and out. Well looks like work tomorrow.
  • Here is a copy of it

  • I thought that was it also. I was hoping one of the original posters would see mine so I could get a update. Looked in the archives couldn't find it. Remember he said he did his ac but it was a while ago. I was going on the roof to service the ac so I thought I might give it a try.
  • I think the original post was about gluing reflextic type insulation to the inside of the shroud to reflect the sun's rays. Seemed like a good idea at the time but very difficult to know if it really did much good.

  • Thanks' old biscuit. But does anybody remember the post of which one they insulated ? Think they had pictures.
  • The only good would be insulating the cover for the evap coil.....just need to be sure return air flow is not restricted or evap coil blocked.

The cover is metal and 'sealed' around the edges to keep the cold air inside
