Yes, I did build them myself. The DW was using the plastic totes on the shelves prior to my adding the drawers. As I stated in my original post, it was impossible to reach for anything past the front of the shelf without moving something. At least it was easier to remove the plastic tote than item by item. But the DW & I wanted something easier than that. I just built the drawers to hold the totes which gave me a little extra height to keep things straight and from tipping over inside the drawer. Actually, I did lose about 1-1/2" on the total width and because of the cabinet's left and right stiles or the upright pieces which the hinge and latch are mounted to. If you notice in the photo without the drawer installed you can see that I had to fir out the drawer slides to accommodate this. But it is a very small price to pay to get the convenience.
