The other thing about the strip LEDs (I have used them for several years now) is that they can be cut to whatever length you need. So if you find either the brightness or the power is too much, you can always cut a few feet off the end and center it on under your awning as needed. Start with the full roll, then go from there.
Semi-related... one of my projects last year was to take a 16' roll of the warm-white LEDs and cut it into 3' hunks. I soldered wires to the ends and used them to replace the dome lights in my bays. Gives a brighter light and I could route the strips where I needed them.
