I've installed them on 2 Campers. First ones were the cheapest ones I could find on ebay.com. They were touted to be waterproof and did work for a while, but I got some corrosion and had some funny issues, they were the flexible circuit board type with a silicone bead covering the circuits and leds, and a double stick tape on the back. The corrosion was at the cut marks.
The last strip is the same but also came in a silicon tube. Really waterproof! I bought some good double stick tape from HD to mount. I placed mine 3" to 4" below the awning.
I got my 12vdc from the OEM patio light switch, and mounted the controler in a cabinet.
