- IvylogExplorer IIII've used the same 12 5050 led but in a G4 base. Close to the same light output as the halogens I replaced and you want the warm white. At that price, go for it.
- Golden_HVACExplorer12 of the SMD 5050 LED's is probably not bright enough. You would need to turn on both fixtures to equal one of of your bulbs.
I have some 24 LED panels with 5050 lights in them, and turn on 2 of them to light up my hallway, it is pretty bright (48 of the LED's) and sometimes turn on both sides of the light fixture (96 LEDs).
What I did is cut the wire going to the existing bulb holder, and wire in two of the adapters that came with the LED panel kit. Then I can plug in either 12 or 24 LED panels to the fixture, one or two. I picked two of the 24 LED panels, and it works out well, barely uses .4 amps for the two X 24 panels.
I bought them at Aliexpress.com Search for 24 5050 LED and you will get a long list. Narrow the search check "Free Shipping" and then look for "List by lowest cost first".
Then you will probably see offers for 1,000 of the LED panels at $1.8 each, and go down a page or so, to find lots of 10 for $2.45 each.
For my porch light, I used 4 X the 24 LED panels, and it is super bright, and you can read a newspaper at about 15' from it. I leave it on 24/7, at just over 8 watts, it is harly worth the effort to turn it off in the daytime. My solar system makes up all the power it consumes.
Fred. - tenbearExplorerYou don't say what bulb you are replacing. If it is the 921 I agree with Golden_HVAC. 18-5050 or 36-1210 are the minimum I would use.
Depending on the use, you might want to consider COB type bulbs. The panels direct all the light down, great for task areas and depending on your fixture, for overhead lighting. The COBs give a more diffused light pattern and are easier to install.
You might consider buying a couple of the type you think would be right for you before buying many. - jjjExplorerI have tried them. I found that the ones I got did not plug in properly. The plug portion only made proper contact on one side of my 2 light system. If I tried to put it in the other side it would have to be turn the opposite direction, with the lights facing up to work. I bought the 921 13 5050 warm white wedge car bulb round ones to put in and found that they put out a little bit more light than the original bulbs and that is what I am installing in my bedroom and rear room and I am going with the 48 5050 warm white panels for the living room.
- camperpaulExplorerThe inexpensive panels do not have internal voltage regulation and work over the input range of ~10 to ~15 Volts.
The ones that work over the range of ~9 to ~32 Volts have internal regulators but they generate unacceptable levels of RFI. - wtravlr1ExplorerTried them as well, found that they were flimsy and did not work very well, there are some on Amazon that did work very well and were warm in color.
- tenbearExplorerA search on eBay for "T10 LED warm white" will show you hundreds of candidates to replace your 921 bulbs. Be aware that when they say it is a 921 replacement they are only saying it fits in the same socket.
- 2oldmanExplorer IICheap LEDs are the most expensive kind. Personally I'd stay off Ebay when looking for good LEDs.
- Alfred622ExplorerI certainly respect 2oldman's opinion, but I have slightly different experience.
I purchased about 5 different LED styles off eBay from different vendors. After trying each one in the motorhome, my wife and I agreed that this one eBay Listing worked best for us. I then bought 20 of them and proceeded to replace all the bulbs in the MH with these panels. We've had them now for 3 years and they are working great. They consume significantly less power than the old incandescent bulbs. They are as bright, or brighter, than the old bulbs. I'm not aware of any RFI generated. And their color temperature is warm-white which we find pleasing in the evening. These panels are held into the light fixture via double-sided tape. The only problem I've had is that one of the light panels seems to have trouble staying stuck to the smooth plastic light fixture...I've had to re-stick it after each winter.
We're pleased with these panels - they are not the least expensive panel on eBay, but they work reliably, give plenty of light, and have a good color temperature. I made 3 separate purchases from this vendor and each was satisfactory. Delivery was from China but each shipment arrived in under 3 weeks. - canadiankidExplorerThanks for the advice. I would be replacing the stock 921 bulbs. I like the idea of the cob style but I am a bit confused about the 5050 vs the 1210's. I am guessing that the 5050's are a bit bigger or brighter? Could you please tell me what the best (most like an original 921 bulb) LED Cob would be (5050 or 1210) and the # of LED's to match the light output of the 921.
Thanks in advance. Don.
