I fail to see what there is to gain from LED marker or tail lights. The battery or alternator doesn't care about a few more amps. In eight years with two trailers I have yet to replace a burned out bulb.
I made the move to LED marker and tail lights for the simple reason of getting rid of intermittent bulb contacts from corrosion...
All was well for the first couple of years until the LED tail light modules started burning out.
Now it a game of which LED module I will be replacing in the spring when it is time to take my trailer for the annual state safety inspection.
Now instead of changing a $.50 bulb I get to spend $50 per tail light module and $7 per marker..
I changed a marker this spring and when I parked the trailer I noticed a different marker will now need to be replaced in the spring..
It has only been eight years since I changed all the fixtures to LEDs and am not happy with the LEDs, they are not getting the advertised 100,000 hrs which should be about 11 yrs of usage at 24/7/365 or 34 yrs at 8hrs per day, 365 days per year.
I only use my TT for about 2weeks of traveling per year and even if I left the lights on for the entire time while camping that is only 336 hrs per year and at 8 yrs that is 2688 hrs which IS LESS life than a typical incadescent bulb used in markers and tail lights.
Given the choice now that I know better I would have simply replaced the old incadescent fixtures with new INCADESCENT fixtures.
