A lot of people aren't aware that there is a big difference between AC and DC switches. I suspect you'll need a DC switch for your LEDs. Make sure it is rated for the Voltage/Current you'll be sending through it.
(AC switches used in DC circuits may become intermittent or even stop working over time)
