I would not do this. Air hose quick connects are not built to the same standard. Literally playing with fire here.

You may be right, but he's been doing it for years without an issue. I really wonder what the real difference is between a $25 LPG quick connect and a $5 air quick connect, other than the shape of the tip. I do know that I have air quick connects that I've used for years without leakage, and they get much more abuse than a LPG quick connect for a camp BBQ would ever see. Again, what's the "actual" physical difference, and what justifies a 5-fold price difference?
