Magnetic knife bar

Not sure this is the right forum. Has anyone put one of the magnetic knife bars on the wall of their RV? Seems like a great way to get rid of the knife block. I'm just wondering if you would leave them there while traveling or take the knives down. Thanks...Betty
  • Friends have had one for three years with no problems if any coming off. We are about to do the same.
  • We've had them in the last two units. Much better access to them than that knife rack at the back of the stove.
  • We have been using one for a few years. We have only had one knife fall off.
  • I bought a "Knife Safe" knife holder from camping world for less than $10 and screwed it to the inside of the over the sink cupboard door. Keeps the knifes in easy reach for me and out of little hands. This was when my little ones' favorite camping activity was opening and emptying all the drawers.
  • We have the magnetic knife bars in both our 5vers. Never have had a knife fall during travel. I love them.
First one we bought at "Cash & Carry" (Smart & Final) It was sp$ndy. Thye next one we bought was at Harbor Freight (advertised as a wrench holder) A lot less $$ and I think its stronger then the other one also.
  • I have seen them installed and have not heard of anyone having issues with knifes staying in place. Just not something I would do. I have a couple ceramic knifes that have plastic sheaths that I keep in the drawer. Safer in my opinion and prevents damage to the knifes. I also carry a small mandolin slicer so need for a super sharp edge is reduced as I just use that for thin slicing veggies and such.
